(Jackson, MI) - At Monday's forum hosted by the Hillsdale County Republican Women, Brian Rooney further distinguished himself as the leading Republican candidate in Michigan's 7th Congressional District. Rooney once again demonstrated that he is the only candidate that has the energy, enthusiasm and experience necessary to defeat Mark Schauer in November.

In his closing statement, Rooney said, "My life experiences are what make me the most qualified candidate to represent the people of Michigan's 7th Congressional District. I have experience on the battlefield and I understand what our state's many veterans go through when they come home. I am a small business owner so I understand the difficulties posed by excessive government regulation and taxation. Most of all, my family and I understand and appreciate the special quality of care that our doctors and nurses provide in hospitals in Michigan and across this country."  He continued, "We are a country set apart. We are an exceptional people. We have the right as Americans to be proud of our country. We are facing some tough times right now. We can and will get through them. Together, we will make America great again."

(Jackson, MI) - The National Defense PAC, an organization dedicated to electing America’s military veterans to public office, today announced their endorsement of Brian Rooney in Michigan’s 7thCongressional District.

“Brian Rooney has the National Defense PAC’s full support for election to the United States House of Representatives,” said retired Rear Admiral James J. Carey. “He served our country in the Marine Corps, knows military hardships and dangers first hand, and is committed to keeping the promises made to our veterans when they agreed to risk their lives to face America’s enemies. Brian is the man we want in Congress making decisions that impact our military veterans and today’s young Americans serving in the Armed Forces.”

Admiral Carey continued,  “The 7th Congressional District of Michigan has thousands of military veterans and an equally significant number of men and women, both active duty, guard & reserve, serving in the military today.  They need Brian representing them in Congress.  National Defense PAC intends to do all it can to help make that happen."

Colonel (Ret.) Craig Carlson, National Defense PAC Executive Director, stated, “National Defense PAC has earned a reputation for endorsing winning candidates because we back men and women that have proven integrity forged in patriotic selfless military service.  The American people trust our military and vote for our candidates.  Our goal in 2010 is to endorse as many candidates that can meet our standard, and elect them all.”

In accepting the endorsement, Rooney said,  "I am honored to receive this endorsement. National Defense PAC is looking for civic minded leaders that are untainted by Washington. I have a proven record of competent service on behalf of the nation. I will use the wisdom I gained in war and Marine Corps service to help craft a better National Defense for our country. There are a disproportionate number of veterans in the 7th district as compared to most other Congressional districts and they deserve better. They deserve a fellow citizen soldier that now is asking to be a citizen legislator working on their behalf to help protect their veteran rights and the overall security of the nation."

After September 11th, Brian Rooney renewed his commitment to the Marine Corps and served in combat in Iraq from 2004-2005. Since leaving the Corps, Rooney has worked as an attorney at the Thomas More Law Center, a not-for-profit public interest law firm dedicated to the protection of religious freedom and promotion of a strong national defense.

Background on the National Defense PAC

The National Defense Political Action Committee is dedicated to electing military veterans to the United States House of Representatives who share the traditional American values of a limited fiscally responsible government, ensuring a strong national defense, protecting the rights/interests of service members, and our historic commitment to our veterans.

(Jackson, MI) - Brian Rooney, Republican candidate for Michigan’s 7th Congressional District, released the following statement after several high profile primary elections that occurred last night:

Americans in Kentucky and Pennsylvania sent a clear message to Washington; it is time for fresh faces and new ideas.  The victory of Rand Paul and the defeat of Arlen Specter show that the country is ready to move forward from the establishment candidates who have played the political game for far too long.  The time for old-school political games, lifelong politicians and backdoor deals is over.  It is time that common sense citizens return this government of the people and by the people to the people.  If I have the honor to represent Michigan’s 7thCongressional District, I will work tirelessly to return the government to the people by making their voices heard in Washington.  It is time to get Michigan back to work in order to restore greatness to our state and our country.
