(Jackson, MI) - Americans for Prosperity, a national organization committed to educating citizens on economic policies, has commended Republican candidate Brian Rooney for signing their "No Climate Tax Pledge."
"The one thing elected officials should be able to agree on is that global warming shouldn't be used as an excuse to hike taxes on citizens and businesses," said AFP-MI State Director Scott Hagerstrom. "We encourage all of Michigan's elected officials and candidates for office to sign the pledge."
"It is my duty and responsibility to assure the people of Michigan's 7th Congressional District that I will not use the possibility of global warming as an excuse to increase taxes," said Rooney. "It is unfortunate that Mark Schauer fails to see that by voting for legislation like the Cap and Trade bill, he promotes the increase of prices on what we buy at the grocery store or the price we pay at the gas station. Tax increases like this do not have positive results. They will not only harm the individual, they will harm businesses, farming and industries in Michigan that have suffered enough."
