"This is truly a great day not only for Iraqis and Americans, but in particular for those Americans who fought hard to ensure that free, democratic elections continue in Iraq," said Rooney. “With 62% of the Iraqi electorate exercising their right to vote, these elections are a true testament to the success that has been achieved by both American and Iraqi forces. The light at the end of the tunnel has gotten much brighter this week in Iraq. I, like all Americans, look forward to the ever closer happy day when all service members in Iraq will come home."
Rooney went on about those Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, and Airmen and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice for their mission, "We mourn the loss of our brave men and women who have given so much in order to provide freedom to those who have gone so long without it. We will never forget their sacrifice because each trip to the polls is a reminder of their hardships and successes."
